Red Hat Linux System Administration (RH131 Self-paced)
Red Hat® Linux® System Administration (self-paced e-learning) course is designed for users of Linux (or UNIX) who want to build skills in systems administration on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 to a level where they can attach and configure a workstation on an existing network. This course builds on students' existing Linux skills to move them from being users to learning actual Linux systems administration.
Special feature: Online labs! This course includes an online lab feature to give course participants an opportunity to apply their knowledge and practice what they've learned in a live environment.

Topics include:

Installation, system initialization — Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, perform post-installation configuration routines, understand the boot-up and shutdown procedure, and understand how to start and stop individual services.

Kernel services, file system management — Covers kernel modules and adding additional disk space to the system, including the use of disk quotas, software RAID, and logical volume management.

Users, networks, packages — Create and modify user accounts, including the use of network authentication systems; administer Access Control Lists (ACLs) and Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux); configure network parameters; use RPM to install, erase, query, and verify packages; and use kickstart to install systems in a hands-free manner.

Administrative tasks, troubleshooting — Perform administrative tasks such as setting up printers; use cron to schedule administrative tasks; manage system logs; make backups; configure the X server; troubleshoot and use rescue mode.
