Red Hat and IBM launch Linux ISV Certification Support Programme in Europe

Programme to offer technology and services to accelerate migration of software applications to Linux

慕尼黑 -

Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions to the enterprise today announced together with IBM, the launch of a joint Linux ISV Certification Support Programme. The programme fulfilled by the IBM Innovation Centres for Business Partners in Hursley (UK), Moscow (Russia), Paris (France) and Stuttgart (Germany) provides support for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who wish to certify applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux running on IBM hardware and IBM middleware.

As part of the agreement, Red Hat will provide technology and support services, while the business partner will get access to the IBM Innovation Centres for Business Partners, which provides a range of services including support during the porting and enablement of the solution either on site or remote. The combined resources will enable ISVs to undergo a thorough self-certification process, assuring both themselves and their customers that applications will perform as expected. Interested ISVs can get more information about the Linux ISV Certification Support Programme at http://www.europe.redhat.com/partners/innovation and fill out the registration form. ISVs must also become members of the IBM PartnerWorld. Programme (no cost to join) and must submit an Enablement Request to get access to the IBM Innovation Centres for Business Partners.

The network of IBM Innovation Centres for Business Partners, including the European Centres, is part of a broader $1 billion global initiative by IBM supporting business partners with education, migration and testing services. As of today, two thirds of the more than 6,500 new Linux-based applications developed on IBM software are being created by corporate developers, signalling that more and more businesses are making the move to Linux. One third of these applications are being created by ISVs. Some 4,700 Business Partners support Linux-enabled IBM software.

"IBM is committed to a non-proprietary, multi-platform approach to implementing open standards," said Lesley Norris, Director of ISV and Developer Relations for IBM Europe, Middle East, Africa. "Linux is central to this strategy and our collaboration with Red Hat ensures that Business Partners can benefit from our joint commitment to open source solutions."

"ISVs are migrating their applications to Linux in ever-growing numbers," said Alex Pinchev, Executive Vice President Global Sales, Red Hat. "Red Hat is accelerating these efforts in Europe and in developing markets such as Russia by offering technology and services at the Linux ISV Certification Centres."

"Mindlab chose Linux for its solution NetMind as a strategic platform of choice right from the beginning. The growing visibility of Linux in our major target markets like banking and finance proves our decision. Testing NetMind on Linux at the IBM Innovation Centre for Business Partners helps us strengthen our confidence and that of our customers' in Linux," says Uli Haefele, CTO of Mindlab GmbH.

"The market for high-performance solutions in Russia is growing rapidly. Linux is not just the preferred platform, but has almost become the defacto standard within geophysics companies," said Vadim Khromov, Director of Fugro-Jason CIS. "We have just finished porting our solution on IBM eServer Cluster 1350 on Linux with the support of IBM Innovation Centre for Business Partners in Moscow and we are extremely satisfied with the results. I believe the Linux ISV Certification Support Programme is an important step in the long-term success of open source solutions. Fugro-Jason is very pleased that IBM and Red Hat are offering such a service in Russia."
