ASP4all standardises on Red Hat Enterprise Linux for maximum uptime of eGovernment and commercial websites

Netherlands application hosting specialist implements Red Hat Satellite Server for security and business continuity; gains ISO 17799 certification

AMSTERDAM -

Red Hat, Inc (Nasdaq: RHAT), the worlds leading provider of open source solutions to the enterprise, today announced that ASP4all, the Netherlands leading online application hosting specialist, has standardised deployment of large scale websites and online applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. ASP4all has built a large scale Red Hat Satellite Server implementation, consisting of 300 servers, to ensure maximum security, cost efficiency, and business continuity.

ASP4all uses Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES with Red Hat Satellite Server to ensure the stability of some of the regions most important eGovernment websites, including Overheid.nl (the Central Government website) and Regering.nl (the Dutch Parliament website). Vodafone Netherlands Webshop is also hosted in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.

ASP4alls Red Hat Satellite Server implementation and use of the Red Hat Network also played an important role in helping it gain the coveted ISO17799 certification, better known as the International Code for Information Security and Business Continuity.

Marcel Jansen, Chief Technical Officer at ASP4all, explains: "To help us gain the ISO certification, we needed to build a highly resilient, secure and manageable operating system environment. Red Hat Enterprise Linux fulfills all the requirements for our webhosting and online application hosting operations - the core of our business. Our Red Hat Satellite Server implementation and the support of the Red Hat Network contributed to fulfilling the requirements for certification, and as a result, to the growth of our business."

"ASP4all chose Red Hat Enterprise Linux for its reliability, security and ease of administration," said Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen, Regional Director
Red Hat Benelux. "Its a great example of how Linux can be used in large scale, strategic deployments where uptime and easy management are critical. And of course, were delighted that our Satellite Server and the Red Hat Network contributed to ASP4all being awarded the ISO certification, and to the growth of the companys business."
