dmraid and promise fasttrak controller

I'd like to migrate to Linux 2.6, but my root partition is on a pdc raid
device. I've created an initrd (with dmraid) and it seems to detect the
array, though invalid :-(

When the linuxrc starts dmraid -ay I'm getting the following errors:
ERROR: keeping degraded mirror set "pdc_jjajccdd"
ERROR: no mapping possible for RAID set pdc_jjajccdd

From linux 2.4 dmraid -r reports:
/dev/hdg: pdc, "pdc_jjajccdd", mirror, broken, 159179687 sectors, data@ 0
/dev/hde: pdc, "pdc_jjajccdd", mirror, broken, 159179687 sectors, data@ 0
(the raid set is mounted at this moment)
