xpdf-0.7a

I just uploaded to ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/Incoming two rpm files
   xpdf-0.7a-4.src.rpm
and
   xpdf-0.7a-4.alpha.rpm
of a new version 0.7a PDF viewer xpdf. This version was released
a few days ago. Although not perfect it is a distinct improvement
over the previous 0.7 and has some nice new features. Where these
uploads end up on Red Hat site it remains to be seen. :-)

Binary rpm for alpha is for 5.0 (Hurricane) release. A recompilation
requires a working C++ compiler and many folks seem to have problems
with that. If you use 4.2 and want this then just get source rpm,
do 'rpm -i xpdf-0.7a-4.src.rpm ; rpm -ba /usr/src/redhat/SPECS/xpdf.spec'
and, if you have a working C++, this should recompile and produce
required binary .rpm which you can then install.

Just in case you would like to recompile that straight from relese
sources I include below spec file as used by me. Mentioned in it
patch is available at ftp://ftp.aimnet.com/pub/users/derekn/xpdf/
together with sources. xpdf.wmconfig is taken, without modifications,
from source rpm for xpdf in Red Hat release.

  Have a nice viewing,
  Michal

%description
Xpdf is a viewer for Portable Document Format (PDF) files. (These are also
sometimes also called 'Acrobat' files, from the name of Adobe's PDF
software.) Xpdf is designed to be small and efficient. It does not use the
Motif or Xt libraries. It uses standard X fonts. Xpdf is quite usable on a
486-66 PC running Linux.
