I do not know that for sure, but I do not think that PYXIS changes
really are responsible for that failure.  This excludes UX where setup
is different and changing PCI windows really is causing problems.

The reason behind this opinion is that I am running right now 2.2.10-ac12
"genric" on LX, and on EB64+, ('dmesg' output from LX below) and I left
modifications to core_pyxis.h and core_pyxis.c intact.

What is different that instead of ncr53c8xx 3.2, which comes with 2.2.10
and is left alone in 2.2.10-ac12, I am using sym53c8xx 1.5c.  I did not
try the original NCR driver but if you have troubles maybe you can
retrieve patches from ftp://ftp.tux.org/tux/roudier and try what will
happen on your machine.  Patches for 2.2.9 fit with some small offsets.

Gerard Roudier also posted recently on linux-kernel list some small
patches to NCR driver whcih allow it to handle better out-of-spec
PCI bridges.  How this is relevant here I am not sure as I never had
troubles with this controller in the past but maybe there is something
there.

Here is dmesg.  This LX has actually two channel controller with
two disks currently on different channels.  This setup is purely for
testing; gcc version used is not likely relevant.  Does anybody knows
if the fact that this controller is apparently recognized as
64-bit device is important here?
