aboot woes

My as1200 is hanging on boot. I've used this distro and this aboot on
other alphas many times and have never had this problem. I'm guessing
that some SRM variable is being set/corrupted. Tru64 boots (via ris)
but no version of aboot will including the floppy I used for the original
install(floppy is still good). I've tried downgrading srm and everything
short of removing the battery to clear things up without any luck.

Here's a description of all I did to end up where I am now.

I installed Redhat 6.2 on my as1200 (firmware 6.0) with floppies and
performed a ftp install which went perfectly well. I then applied all the
available redhat patches for 6.2, built gcc-2.95.3, built a 2.2.14 kernel
and rebooted, so far so good. I then built aboot 0.9, wrote the boot
block, and rebooted with no problems. Next I built 2.2.19 and rebooted
with no problems. The system was up for 5 days except for intentional
reboots. This monday I found the system was wedged with numerous
spinlock errors on the console.

rtc.c:136 spinlock stuck in swapper at fffffc0000474388(1) owner swapper at fffffc000031cf0c(0) time.c:460

I then reset the system and tried to boot both from disk and floppy. The
console logs are below. Any thought or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This is my normal boot string which worked for a weeks worth of reboots. Now it
hangs at the last line.

This is from booting the redhat 6.2 install floppy which previously worked
