I just discovered Pebrot thanks to a previous post.  WOW!  This one did it
for
me, especially when I learned I could make it talk independent of any screen
reading software.  If anyone would like the .pebrot/pebrotrc that allows
Pebrot
to talk through Festival, let me know and I will send it to you, (without my
passport info of course.) ;-)
