If you have a redhat 8.0 CD-rom and can normally run speakup; you could try putting disc 1 in the drive and typing at the prompt once the cd stops spinning linux rescue speakup_synth=doubletalk if you use a doubletalk synthesizer. You'll have to answer keyboard and language questions but will be put into rescue mode with speech shortly after that.
