Kristoffer,

Intel cards work just fine. All kernels in 2.4 and 2.6 support Intel
chips.

I se Intel chips all the time on mid to high level servers. We use
Redhat and special version of Linux with no problems. Make sure you have
Intel pro1000 and not e100, i.e. you need to match the correct driver
with the card. Different chips use different drivers. Also, there are
two drivers for e100 so you might want to try one or the other.
