speaking lynix install?

By far the easiest  way to get started with linux is with oralux (as 
mentioned below). If you're going to be following some tutorial on getting 
started using linux, you would then be able to start without doing an 
install. Installing linux is not real easy. So if you can avoid that until 
you're more comfortable with linux itself, that might be worthwile.

If you do need to do an installation, you should use the speakup modified 
version of the installer for your version of linux. There are lots of 
different types of linux (called distrabutions or distros). You have to 
choose a distro first.  I use a distro called debian. But I've heard fedora 
is easier for new users.

Once you settle on a distro, go to linux-speakup.org for instructions and 
download links.

You'll need a hardware synth. It will be very difficult for someone new to 
linux to do an installation via a software synth.
