Hi All.

Firstly I'm a newbie to Linux. I'm a software developer in the UK for a
military subcontractor and I've just been moved over to a project using
Fedora Core 7 as the OS for a concept demonstrator.

I've installed the Speakup Modified distribution of Fedora Core 7 and I
can get Orca to speak using festival however I can't seem to get Speakup
to work.

I think my problem is that I'm not launching the software speech before
loading Speakup.

1. are there any software speech engines for Speakup installed as part
of the standard install of Speakup.
2. if so can some one give me a list of commands to use to get Speakup
to work.

I don't have a hardware synth so it's got be software.

Any help gratefully received.
Cheers.
Nick.
