speakup and covox

Hello,

Hope you had a very good Christmas time!

Lately I heard about covox. You can read more about it on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covox
Some people still use this with dos. The good thing about it is, that it's 
very cheep  compared to the external hardware synthesizers. I was wondering, 
if this can be used with speakup? I've read that still there are Linux 
drivers. Could this it be a cheep replacement of those synthesizers?
