BSD is another "flavor" of UNIX. Linux is a "Unix variant" in that "GNU's
Not Unix". Many of the actual programs are different. Though you interact
with them similarly, there are slight differences...in many cases just
enough to be annoying, but not hinder your ability to use them. The
licensing is also very different, but IMO you would only need concern
yourself with that if you are doing software development where you are
re-using the source code of BSD-style licensed software (Wikipedia may help
explain that in more detail: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSD_license)
