setting up a linux box

I'm not a newbie and even with sighted assistance can't get Vinux 3.0 
working over here.  Apparently Vinux doesn't recognize motherboard 
built-in sound cards of certain brands and models.  This gets even 
stranger since an earlier version of Vinux Vinux-2.1-cli-max works just
