internet radio help

Hi.
I really need help, I'm creating an internet radio server, and connecting to it from my own computer works fine.
But when trying to connect from my ip adress, it doesn't work at all.
What can this be? I've forwarded ports 8000 to 8001 for icecast as it says in the documentation.
Can I have missed something?
I'm using ezstream and icecast.
If you've got any other ideas about another servers that is better, feel free to suggest them as well.
I want to learn to set up internet radio both on windows and linux machines.
