cvlc apparently limited

When I used:
rvlc --quiet --novideo --volume 300 dvd://2 all I got was the loop music 
playing and that also happened for dvd://3 when that was substituted.  
I'm sure I could use dvd:// followed by my 10 digit phone number with 
the same effect.  I'll try rvlc with other dvd disks I have here and see 
if any of those work later.
