Hello,

The Red Hat Bugzilla team is planning to release an updated version of
Bugzilla around mid September (tentative) that implements sub
components. We will follow up this notice periodically with pointers to
test versions of bugzilla for evaluation.

This feature will allow products to have sub components to an arbitrary
depth by forming parent/child relationships. Naturally this change will
impact users of the Web UI and XMLRPC interfaces. It may have impact on
tooling or subsystems.

An example of this will be:
Product RHEL 6
Component kernel
Sub-Component File Systems
Sub-Component ext4

Sub components will be exactly the same as the normal components, having
an owner, qa contact, cc list, and associated with a specific product.
Sub components names will continue to be unique to a product.
The new sub component feature will introduce changes to the following UI
pages:

1- New Bug Report, enter_bug.cgi.
2- Edit existing Bug report, show_bug.cgi
3- Bugzilla Search, query.cgi
4- Request Queue, request.cgi
5- Edit Components and Edit Products Pages, editcomponents.cgi
editproducts.cgi

It will also introduce changes to the following RPC functions:
Bug.get
Bug.create
Bug.update
Bug.search
Component.get
Component.update
Component.create
RedHat.getBug
RedHat.getBugSimple
RedHat.createBug
RedHat.runQuery
RedHat.editComponent
RedHat.addComponent
RedHat.getCompInfo

We will be pushing the changes to out test server (
https://partner-bugzilla.redhat.com/ ) later this month for you to test.
More details we will be sent soon on those changes and how they can
affect your scripts.

If you have any questions regarding this change, please contact the Red
Hat Bugzilla team on bugzilla-owner at redhat.com, or follow
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=653316

Thanks
Red Hat Bugzilla Team
