That is/was the plan. Tom and I sketched out and new dump format, but
we both kind of got busy and haven't finished the implementation.
Right now I'm thinking about dropping it and just releasing our 7.x.x
tree as is. So, take the patch for now and when/if I break it, I'll
fix crash to.
