Are you sure that it says "-O" and not "-o"?

If so, it sounds to like the initscripts are passing the "-O" option
to mount, and the standard mount doesn't understand that option.

Perhaps redhat have added "-O" to mount, and then used that in
the initscripts, so it breaks standard mount?

Have a look in your /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.  Search for "-O".  If it's
there, kill it.
