free -t and ext3

as I've installed Roswell and made some partitions with ext3 there seems to
be a higher swap space usage; of course, making ext3 responsible is just a
suggestion.
Anyone else?

# cat /proc/mounts | grep ext3
/dev/root / ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/md1 /Dora ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/md0 /usr ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/md2 /usr/local ext3 rw 0 0

$ free -t

the result of free -t in similar situations on the workstation showed
significant less swap space usage on RH7.1 and higher buffers/cache figures
