Re: df not showing ext3 partition

mount 2.11h also puts 'auto' in /etc/mtab... I have decided I am
going to look through mount's code, and see what happens if I make
mount put into /etc/mtab what it determined from it's check of the
filesystem before mounting. As I understand it, when mounting an 'auto'
fstype (from /etc/fstab) partition, mount tries to determine what the
actual type of the filesystem is, so that the OS can talk to it correctly.
If putting 'ext3' into /etc/fstab causes df to work right (typing mount
returns that it's mounted as type ext3 not auto), then perhaps if mount
wrote into /etc/mtab what it had determined it had to mount it as, df
would work properly no matter what 'auto' determined? Though, this seems
to be the behaviour of older versions of mount (at least from what i've
heard on this list).

Sorry bout the lack of whitespace in that paragraph @_@ I tend to ramble
