RE: ext3 on 2.2.20 w/2.2.19 patch?

Yea I went ahead and applied the patch with a little tweaking in the
'linux-2.2.19.ext3.diff' file. I changed where it said:

--- linux-2.2.19.ext3-0.0.7a/Makefile.~1~ Tue Jun 5 18:51:52 2001

I don't know if it helps or not but after a issued a 'patch -p1 <
linux-2.2.19.ext3.diff' and selected the development code for second fs it
seemed to work.

All I needed to do was change the entries in the '/etc/fstab' file from
'ext2' to 'ext3' I did not know that this was supposed to be done, it was
never noted in the patch README. I guess it's common sense.

After that I did a mock bad shutdown and it recovered the journal without a
fsck. Thanks guys.

Perhaps a mini-HOWTO should be written? I'm not a good writer but I'm
willing to do one.

I had it working fine with changing the filesystem in /etc/fstab to ext3.
I say "had it working" because I have now upgraded to 2.4.16.
