Thanks a lot, this solved it. However there is still a difference between
my partitions now:

/dev/hda5 on / type auto (rw)
/dev/hda8 on /home type ext3 (rw)
/dev/hda6 on /usr type ext3 (rw)

My fstab now is with auto for all three partitions and the bootlog showes
three found journals. Is auto on / normal then?
