Well, that large a file will always take a while to delete...

I wonder if "file" isn't large-file-aware...

Yep, on a 7.2 system, "file" opens with the flags O_RDONLY; with 7.3,
it uses O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE.

We need the log messages to debug this.
