1)  Run e2fsck to correct any filesystem errors.  This may remove the journal inode.

2)  If it didn't, to be safe, remove the journal: 
	"tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/hdXX" 

3)  Then recreate the journal:  "tune2fs -j /dev/hdXX"
