Paul,
there are other issues why people use a dvd installer, versus the live 
install. Mainly, live cd copies the image over, which is inflexible.
Further, sometimes the live installer does not work, but the DVD based 
anaconda does.
Another reason to use a dvd iso is, that you can use it as the basis for 
kickstart installs, specially with virtual machine installs, as most 
common packages are available.
