Yep, that's the problem for me. It's too bright and does not fit the
rest of the echo at all. It has number of issues, like wrong shadowing,
colours too much different from the Echo Colour palette, partly missing
outline, etc. I must say, that even though I know that the original icon
also has some of the above mentioned issues, I like it very much (and a
lot more than this one)...

If you'd like to know, which lightness I'd like more, look at the Gnome
or Tango Icon theme (they use different colour hues, however). Both can
be viewed from this page: http://people.freedesktop.org/~jimmac/icons/
