Oops :-)

I meant to say that I would start by BC-compiling the plugin and
stepping through isAvailable with gdb, to see what goes wrong.  This
is kind of a pain to do, though, since gdb doesn't work so well with
exceptions, and class loading typically throws several during the
normal course of operation.
