Because, of course, Fedora *forces* you to have a 160GB install.

You can install a firewall built from Genuine Fedora Parts easily
for under 500 MB, and you can cut it down more than that without
that much difficulty.

Seriously, using things like kerberos and LDAP allow an OS to
be used by a much greater potential pool of users than would
be enabled by not including them. Moreover, their inclusion allows
the development of new technologies such as single sign-on much
earlier, and *that's* what Fedora is about - new technology
development.
