Oh, I almost forgot... SSH is really three things:
1) a Transport Layer Protocol (SSH-TRANS); 2) a User
Authentication Protocol (SSH-USERAUTH); 3) a
Connection Protocol (SSH-CONNECT).
So, ssh (the binary, not the protocol), sftp, and scp
are seperate *apps* which build functionality on top
of an underlying protocol. Just as Kerberized ftp,
rcp, rsh, rlogin, etc. are *apps* which build
functionality on top of an underlying protocol.
Now who can't distinguish between protocols and the
apps that are compiled to support them?? Huh?
Kerberos & SSH are beginning to sound more and more
like apples.
