It seems this has broken X alltogether because the 'misc' font path has 
been completely removed from /etc/X11/fs/config. I had to add it back 
manually in order to make X find the 'fixed' font again.

Also moving windows around in a Composite+xcompmgr scenario isn't as smooth 
anymore as it has been in the last few days.
