Yes it is going upstream but as to when, you might want to take that 
question to Mark Wallis or IvD but im pretty sure their response will be 
"when it is ready". rt2x00 has a nice forum and you can help by beta 
testing the unified driver if you'd like to move things along faster. A 
distro doesn't direct the types of upstream changes you are looking for 
very often. -mf
