... an ELF library installed in a system directory.  No point in
running ldconfig for
/usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/CORE/libperl.so.

Probably the best thing is to have a

  %ldconfig

directive.

But yes, in general many scriptlets can be replaced with automatic
detection or some sort of directive.
