You're not describing a separate fonts repository you're describing
the Open Font Library web site.

And the existence of such a site is totally orthogonal to the
distribution or not of its contents via Fedora packages, as we've seen
for years for CPAN (and such a site will never be the only source for
something, as seen again with CPAN).

This is of course not specific to fonts, or content, we have lots of
packaged stuff you can only really understand by browsing the upstream
web site.

For fonts this bit has been identified:

Volunteers to work on it would be welcome. I'll probably post some
requirements on the fonts list in the next days if people are
interested.
