The only hint I can help with is that with a two week old
fc2 burned to CD, I managed to upgrade 1 to 2 with
absolute standard, no tweaks follow the hints 'it works'
approach.
   

I didn't use net access,
but ..... Its a minimal risk?

If the guy has that many systems
set one up next to his install and run it?
