Ya vi las especificaciones de tu portatil [1] y tienes que tratar tu tarjeta como un dispositivo PCMCIA. Asegurate quete tu kernel lo soporta y este activo. RedHat -> Systems Settings -> Server Settings -> Services. Luego, habilita PCMCIA.

Pero, no has dicho las especificaciones de la tarjeta que vas a utilizar (marca y modelo)
