Thanks Ed for the review. My understanding previously was that extras package
cannot replace core ones, i.e. there can't be conflict in file names.
While i may be very wrong, i thought in the particular case of mpich and lam
(or/and any other MPI implementation), one cannot have simultaneously install
and use more than one implementation. If more than one is installed in parallel
in a rpm based system, amd their paths properly set in the system environment,
if I run 'mpirun' how would the system know which implementation to use.
I'm not so versed on how to deal with situation like this, any advice and
directions will be appreciated.
