Hi Ed,

This is getting more complicated than i set out to do ;). I'm quite aware of
such multiple installations in /opt, we actually have a setup similar to what
you described. But i was confused on how it could be done in a Fedora-extras rpm
packaging stlye.
Your suggestion of putting it in /usr/lib/mpich2 is very interesting, it reminds
me of what is being done with java sdk/jre stuff and alternatives in fedora and
jpackage. I'm trying to study the use of update-alternatives to see if it will
be useful in this situation.
Also using the layout above (/usr/lib/mpich2), I'm stuck with the man pages. The
packaging guildlines stipulates arch-independent data to be put in /usr/share;
what do you think i should do here, put the man pages in /usr/share/mpich2 ?
