Well, it's the same "solution" ... built the mpt fusion into the kernel...


The actual problem seems to be that the mptspi module is not loaded into 
the initrd automatically.

With an initrd that includes mptspi the kernel boots properly ;-)) 
("mkinitrd ..... --preload=mptspi")

Unfortunately I couldn't come up with a simple solution for an automatic 
loading of mptspi (e.g. during standard kernel installation) :-((
