Someone else mentioned seeing the same problem a while back.  I just
tried this on the latest rawhide tree (20060601) and wasn't able to
reproduce it.  Please let me know if you see this again if you get a
chance to install 0601 or newer.

I am also trying to reproduce the other issues you mention.
