This certainly sounds like the best plan. Also, I am not all that
familiar with the Supermicro boxes but I would suggest going to Intel's
web site and see if they have updated firmware. I know on some of our
HP ia64 systems the original firmware needs to be updated in order to
run recent versions of linux.
