I rebooted F10, made rpm --rebuilddb and I get everytime (also before --rebuilddb)

[root at integrity ~]# rpm -q glibc
  1<   (empty)
  0< (empty)
  1<   (empty)
  0< (empty)
  1<   (empty)
  0< (empty)
  1<   (empty)
  0< (empty)
  1<   (empty)
  0< (empty)
  1<   (empty)
  0< (empty)
glibc-2.9-2.ia64


Also USB attached HD is not seen from kernel and from lsusb...  Any idea ?
I'll try a complete power cicle.

You need to recreate the rpm database so the old version of rpm understands it:

rm -f /sdb4/var/lib/rpm/__db*

rpm --root=/sdb4 --rebuilddb

then you should be able to update glibc.  Once you reboot the new install you will need to remove /var/lib/rpm/__db* again so the new rpm understands the database.
