Packaging walk-through for new contributors

A query :: Does packaging need knowledge of programming languages ? I've just entered 3rd sem at College and we havent been taught much. Am teaching myself C but that will take a week atleast before I know anything substantial.

Thanks for all participating in the IRC session on packaging yesterday. 
I am thinking of doing a packaging walk through with new contributor(s)
on coming Sunday on our regular timing at 6:30 PM.
