Since I get the impression you want to upgrade *only* mysql, why not grab
the RPM(s) from mysql.com? They should work fine on fc2.

---------------------------------
your suggestion to grab the rpms from mysql is exactly what i've been trying
to do... and then it gave me dependency issues. which is where i am now.

it now appears that i've screwed things up...

i have:
[root at lserver2 rpm]# mysql -u root -p
mysql: /lib/libk5crypto.so.3: no version information available (required by
/lib/libssl.so.5)
mysql: /usr/lib/libkrb5.so.3: no version information available (required by
/lib/libssl.so.5)
mysql: error while loading shared libraries: mysql: undefined symbol:
get_defaults_files

which tells me that i have something weird going on...

searching google/etc.. doesn't tell me what 'no version information
available' means, so i'm at a loss as to where to look for a solution...

thanks...

bruce
