yes there is things that arent supported but im not sure if it would
make it lock up... 
i had that problem on an hp desktop with M$ but i would check redhats
hardware db

or check during bootup if there is any problems when it tries to
initialize usb module..

enter    dmesg usb | grep usb
then it will tell u what happend during boot up

like ex..   heres mine

 dmesg usb | grep usb
