Details of ftp install

can someone provide details of ftp install?  When I try these
addresses I get a failure:

  http://download.fedora.redhat.com/
  pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/

  ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/
  pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/

One of the alternate (F*) screens indicates the network is working,
showing the eth0 device settings as full duplex.

Another problem is that at this point of install it seem impossible
to get to a shell on any of the F* alternate screens.  This is using
the boot.iso (cd) as install disk, not the floppy.
