Interesting theory. All my machines use the same PCI graphics card, with
4.5MB of onboard RAM. They run 16 bit color at up to 1600x1200 on
windoze, 1400x1050 on OS/2, and 1280x960 (at least, I haven't tried
higher) on Linux. The windoze menu indicates I could run 1280x1024 at 24
bit, but I can't tell any difference between 16 bit and 24 bit anyway.
