FWIW, you can install alsa-lib without installing the rest of the rpms.

By latest kernel, do you mean 2132 or 2129 kernel?

Yes, you'll need both.
Alsa-driver contains the dev entries and other things while kernel-module-alsa
contains the kernel modules that go in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/sound/

http://freshrpms.net/docs/alsa/

You should be good to go.
