Xscreensaver: webcollage

Has anyone had any luck getting WebCollage to work?  I can run the screen 
saver but after about 3 seconds I guess the color bars with the 
Xscreensaver logo in the middle and it never changes.  If I strace the 
process it appears to work just fine, it downloads some images and writes 
temp files to /tmp but that's all.  Anyone had problems with this 
screensaver?  Every other one I've tried seems to work just fine.
